Do we have a choice, yes or no?
This planet is full of duality. Do you always have a choice or are you a victim of what’s happening to you? Do you want to bear the consequences of your decisions, or would you instead put your head in the sand, ignoring what’s there? Are you a victim of life or do you want to face whatever comes up in your life? Way leads to way, yesterday, tomorrow and today.
The choices we make at this very moment, influence the choices you’ve made before and after this moment. For example, you have been very angry with someone and have expressed yourself in a way you’ve done many times before. It might have become a habit to act this way. Maybe your mom reacted this way most of the time, making you think that’s the way to go. Is it? Even if it was, you still have the freedom to make another choice right now. The more you make other decisions, the milder you can look back to the bad ones you made. Be able to say:”I used to do it differently, and I made other and better choices.” Swallow your pride and give yourself and the people around you to experience another emotional atmosphere.
Limitation gives freedom
The restrictions that gave me the freedom to explore the challenges I ran into have been for example:
a. The negativity in my family.
b. Two of my three children are ‘different’ and took a lot of time and energy from me.
c. I wasn’t able to keep up with daily life as a child since I was too shy, tired.
d. I didn’t feel very welcome in this world.
e. There wasn’t much money to grow up with.
f. I had a brother and sister fighting a lot.
And so on. I was locked up in myself, and the world around me wasn’t very inviting to me to open up. Thereby, I stayed away from alcohol, drugs, coffee and smoking, knowing I would have another extra problem, while I was full of questions. Therefore I stated away from parties, gatherings and so on. Pretty dull, don’t you think so? It gave me the time and freedom to dig deep into myself and learn to analyse people’s behaviour, including mine.
What are your limitations? It might be your zodiac sign, your ascendant, your language, the family you grew up with, your former teacher and you name it. Endless factors that are part of your development. You can get used to everything when you’re exposed to something long enough. What are your norms and values? Do you genuinely agree with them? Maybe you started to behave a sure way to be admitted to a certain group. The power of groups is tremendous. Likewise, your personal choices are compelling as well. Don’t you forget this? Moreover, within the limitations, you experience there is freedom to experience. The more options we have, the more your brain starts to wonder which one you should have made. This is way more can be less.
Most of the time we do have choices, whether it is visible or not. You are who you are underneath all that you think, do, not think, not do, since we all have this flame of light, god, inspiration or however you want to mention it: we are human beings. Keep that in mind. Most of us have come to the point of identification with ‘human doings’. However, you are not what you do. So exercise to identify, your inner state that lies underneath all of whatever it is you do. It brings joy and happiness when you can do so.
It pays to pay attention to your correct norms and values, to wonder about your behaviour and make choices that fit you, instead of what you do.
