Be fit: stretch your targets
Be fit: stretch your targets
What does it mean to be fit? We probably think of exercising enough, sufficient movement, eating healthy, sleeping enough and more of this good stuff that keeps you safe and sound, at least physically. Fit is also the abbreviation of ‘Fully in Tune’. So I think about ‘fit’ all the time. When you have your own company, you know it’s hard working. How do you keep an eye on your balance? It surely isn’t enough to just play sports, exercise and eat healthy. Stretch your targets and get somewhat uncomfortable. The result will be a person who can be proud of himself. Yes, feel slightly uncomfortable and you’ll be more of a happy person.
Think the other way around: when you stay comfortable, you are living your life in a way you already knew. It’s been proven, that diversity in whatever you do, whatever life you are living, by stretching the targets, you are growing. Even though you might think it’s alright to leave good targets out, you’ll grow as a person by exploring new resources. Every small step you take will lead you to a place you haven’t been before. I know a man who seems to know much. Yes, he knows where to look for YouTube films, for tutorials, and asks around to get to know what he needs to know to reach his goal. By interacting with him, I started to do the same: I made myself think I could do it, whatever it was I thought I couldn’t. Interestingly enough, I absorb more information these days than in my earlier days.
Set the bar higher
For example, your company has a hard time attracting customers. You might have hired expensive people to reach your target, without the results you would like. Well, why not dig into the people who already work for your company? What secret value can they add to your association? Did you stimulate your employees enough, or were you just focusing on what wasn’t there? Compliments can make them move and think faster, as long as they are sincere. People would rather work for compliments and appreciation than for money. Yes, of course, we all need money. Owing to new emotional strategies, you might get a new view into your staff. Set the emotional bar higher and you’ll be surprised what you’ll get.
Retained anger will stop the growth of your business. When you never really listen to what’s on their mind and in their hearts, one day you will know: there is too much distance between my employees and myself. It’ll be far off the mark when you’ll realise one day that you’ve been sleeping, focusing too much on the wrong subjects and people won’t be the great asset you were longing for anymore. You need them though, so wake up. Find out what they are so angry and unhappy about. Let them speak up about behaviours that are not representative of the norms and values they hoped for they would face. Did you, as a boss, violate them? Let’s turn the corner by taking another more effective and stimulating way of handling the challenges of your company.
Whether you are a boss, an employee, mother, father or whatever: Be fit, stretch your targets for all aspects that are important for you and exercise the ‘Core Values‘ of ‘Fully in Tune’.
Keep it simple,
